Erase Your Digital Footprint With Claude
Copyable prompts to find your public listings, draft opt-out requests and track removals with Claude.
Use these prompts to find public listings about yourself, prepare opt-out requests and track what gets removed. Claude can help with the work, but it cannot guarantee that every copy of your information disappears.
Before you start
Open Claude with web search available. Start with your name and broad location. Only add extra identifying details when needed to distinguish your own listing. Keep passwords, ID documents and full financial details out of the chat. Browser assistance through Cowork or Claude in Chrome requires a supported paid Claude plan; you can submit requests manually instead.
1. Find and verify your listings
Help me audit my own public digital footprint. My name is [full name], and my broad location is [city/country]. Search public web results for people-search and data-broker listings that may match me. For each result, give the source URL, broker name, categories of information shown, why you think it matches, confidence level, and the official opt-out page. Separate confirmed matches from uncertain ones and sites that could not be checked. Do not claim you found every listing. Do not reproduce full addresses, phone numbers or relatives' details in your answer. Never guess an opt-out URL. Ask me to verify the matches before proceeding.Open each source and check it is actually about you. Search results can belong to someone with the same name. A broker appearing in a general list is not evidence that it holds your record.
2. Draft each removal request
Using only the listings I confirmed are mine, check each broker's official removal instructions. Draft a separate opt-out or suppression request for each listing. Include the listing URL and the minimum identifiers the process requires. Leave placeholders for information I must supply myself. List any verification steps, stated processing period and confirmation email requirements. Do not invent legal rights or claim a request has been submitted. Ask my jurisdiction only if it is needed for a rights-based request.Simple request template
Subject: Request to remove my personal listing
Hello,
Please remove or suppress my personal listing at [listing URL] from your public people-search results. The listing relates to me: [minimum identifying information required by your official process].
Please confirm receipt and let me know when the request is complete or if verification is needed.
Thank you,
[name]3. Submit and record the outcome
Use each site's official opt-out process. If you have browser assistance in Cowork, use the prompt below. Otherwise, open the links and submit the forms yourself. A submission confirmation is different from a completed removal.
Help submit the removal requests for the listings I approved. First show me the destinations and the data each form needs. Use only official broker opt-out pages. Ask before sending each request or disclosing any additional personal information. Pause for me to handle login, CAPTCHA, identity checks and email confirmation. Do not bypass them or purchase anything. Record each result as draft, submitted, awaiting verification, confirmed removed, failed or unable to check. Keep the confirmation reference and stated processing period. Never mark a listing removed based only on submitting its form.4. Keep a private tracker
Create a removal tracker from our confirmed listings. Use columns: broker, listing URL, official opt-out URL, request date, status, verification required, confirmation reference, stated processing period, next check date and notes. Keep sensitive identifying information out of it. Leave unknown fields blank. Suggest the next check date based on the broker's published timing, and distinguish a pending request from a failed request.5. Review each week
Set a weekly reminder in your own calendar. Check verification emails and requests that have reached their stated processing deadline. Recheck removed listings periodically because information can reappear. The prompt alone does not create a reminder or ongoing monitoring.
Review my tracker below: [paste tracker without sensitive details]. Identify verification steps I still need to complete and requests past their stated processing period. Draft follow-ups only for overdue requests. Check public listing URLs where access permits and label inaccessible results as unable to verify. Keep confirmed removal separate from a temporarily unavailable page. Do not resend requests automatically or claim ongoing monitoring is enabled. What success looks like
You have a verified list, completed verification steps, and dated evidence for each removal. Opting out of a people-search site does not erase public records, every search result or copies held elsewhere. Keep the tracker so you can spot reappearances and follow up.
