Turn Your Notes Into a Slide Deck in Claude, Even on Free
Switch on one setting, paste your notes into Claude and get a slide deck you can edit, present and export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides.
Claude can build a slide deck from your notes, a report or a chat. It uses the Slides template, which is available on all Claude plans, including Free. This guide shows you how to switch it on, make your first deck, change it and export it.
First, a few plain terms. An Artifact is something Claude makes for you, like a document or a slide deck, that you can open and edit. A template is a ready made starting point. Claude has three templates for Artifacts: Docs, Slides and Design.
1. Switch on the setting
Open Claude and go to Settings, then Capabilities. Turn on "Cloud code execution and file creation". The templates need this setting to work.
2. Ask for a slide deck
Open any chat and paste in your notes. They don't need to be tidy. Then say:
Make a slide deck from these notes. You can add more detail about what you want. Try this:
Make a slide deck from these notes for a five minute talk. Add a title slide at the start and use short bullet points. There are two other ways to start. You can select "Output" in the message box and choose a template. Or you can pick one from the Artifacts tab.
3. Edit and present
When your deck appears, you can edit any slide directly. If you want to show it to someone, you can present it without leaving Claude.
4. Export your deck
When it's ready, you can export it to PowerPoint or PDF. You can also send it straight to Google Slides.
5. Try the Docs template too
The Docs template does the same job for written documents. In a doc, you can highlight some text, click "Edit with Claude" and type what you want changed. Start with:
Make a one page document from these notes, with a short summary at the top.Docs exports to Word, PDF, Markdown or Google Docs.
