Find and Test Discount Codes with ChatGPT Work
Use ChatGPT Work to search for public discount codes for an item, then test them in its cloud browser before you pay.
ChatGPT Work can search the web for public discount codes and then try them in a real store checkout using its own cloud browser. A cloud browser is a web browser that runs on OpenAI's computers instead of yours. ChatGPT clicks through pages in it for you. This guide gives you prompts for the search and the test, plus the checks to do before you pay.
First, a quick note on names. ChatGPT used to have a feature called agent mode for this kind of task. Agent mode has been retired, and these tasks now happen in ChatGPT Work. Work is part of paid ChatGPT plans, so you won't see it on a free account.

Switch to Work
1. Open ChatGPT and switch to Work at the top of the screen. If it isn't there, check that you're signed in on a paid plan.
2. Open the product page in another tab and copy its link. You'll paste that link into the prompts below.
Step one: find public codes
Start with this prompt. It asks ChatGPT to collect codes and say where each one came from, without pretending any of them work yet.
Search the web for public discount codes and offers for this product: [paste product link]. List each one in a table with the code, the saving it claims, where you found it, and whether it looks current (include the date if one is shown). Only include codes you found on a real page. Don't say a code works unless you've tested it. Mark every untested code as unverified.Put your own product link where it says [paste product link]. Treat the list you get back as a starting point, not a promise. Any code marked unverified still needs testing.
Step two: test the codes in the cloud browser
Once you have a list, say:
Open the store for this product in your browser: [paste product link]. Add the item to the cart and note the total with no code. Then test the codes from your list one at a time. For each one, record whether it was accepted and the new total. Stop before the payment step. Never enter payment details, create an account or start a subscription. If you reach a login page or a CAPTCHA, pause and hand control back to me.You can watch the browser while it works. A CAPTCHA is one of those puzzles that checks you're a human. If one comes up, or the store asks you to log in, ChatGPT should stop and hand control to you. Do that part yourself, then say:
I've finished that step. Please carry on testing the rest of the codes from where you stopped. Keep stopping before payment. When the testing is done, ask for a clear summary:
Give me a short summary: the best working code, the total with that code, the total with no code, and a list of the codes that failed with the message the store showed for each one.Things to know before you pay
- Codes from coupon sites are often expired, so expect a lot of them to fail.
- Some stores block automated testing. If that happens, try the most promising codes yourself.
- Results aren't guaranteed. A code that works today can stop working tomorrow.
- ChatGPT should never enter payment details, create accounts or start subscriptions for you. If it ever asks to, say no.
- Always check the final total yourself on the store's own checkout page before you pay.
Used this way, ChatGPT Work does the slow part, searching and typing in codes, and you stay in charge of the part that matters: your money.
