Three ChatGPT Scheduled Tasks to Set Up on the Free Plan
Set up a morning football news summary, a nightly streaming round up and travel alerts for a trip, using ChatGPT's scheduled tasks on the free plan.
Scheduled tasks let ChatGPT run a prompt for you later, once or on repeat. When a task runs, ChatGPT sends you a notification, so you don't have to remember to ask.
On the free plan you can have up to three active tasks. Here are three useful ones to start with: a morning football news summary, a nightly round up of new films and shows, and travel alerts for an upcoming trip.
1. How to make a task
There are two ways. You can ask in any chat and start your message with how often you want it, like "Every morning". Or you can open Scheduled in the sidebar and make one there.
2. A morning football news summary
Tasks can search the web, so they can pull together news on a topic you choose. Start with:
Every morning, give me a short football news summary. You can swap football for any topic you follow, like a favourite team, a hobby or your local area.
3. New films and shows on streaming
Then say:
Every night, tell me about new films and shows on streaming. If you like, add the kinds of films and shows you enjoy, so the list is shorter and more useful.
4. Travel alerts for a trip
Last, say:
Every afternoon, check for travel alerts about my trip to Rome next month.Change the place and dates to match your own plans. Always check anything important with your airline or travel company before you travel.
5. Pause, edit or delete a task
Open Scheduled in the sidebar. You'll see your tasks there, and you can pause, edit or delete each one. If you've used all three and want to try a new idea, delete one you no longer need first.
