Ask ChatGPT to Build You a Little Tool in the Chat
Use GPT-6 in ChatGPT to make a savings calculator, a bill splitter and a simple game right inside the conversation.
On 7 October 2026, OpenAI launched GPT-6 in ChatGPT with a feature called Intelligent UI. It means answers can include parts you can tap and use, such as buttons, forms, charts, diagrams and maps. You can also ask ChatGPT to build a small tool for whatever you're doing. Here are three to try, based on OpenAI's own examples.
A quick plain term: an interactive element is a part of the answer you can click, tap or type into, rather than just read. You don't need a special prompt. ChatGPT picks the format itself, and it still answers in plain text when that's best.
1. A savings calculator
Ask for a calculator that shows how money could grow over time. Start with:
Build me a calculator to explore how my savings could grow.If you want it to fit your own situation, follow up in plain words. For example, say:
Add a box for how much I put in each month.2. A bill splitter
Next, try a tool for sharing the cost of a meal. Say:
Make a bill splitter for a dinner with friends.Check the totals yourself before anyone pays. ChatGPT can make mistakes, and money is where small errors matter most.
3. A simple game
Last, ask for something fun you can play in the conversation. Say:
Create a simple game we can play in this chat.If you'd like a different kind of game, just say what you want, for example a word game or a quiz.
Good to know
- Plans: OpenAI's release notes say it started rolling out on 7 October to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise, then expanded to Free and Go from the next day.
- Free and Go: OpenAI's own pages list different model names for these plans, so this guide doesn't name one.
- Web and apps: it's rolling out on the web and in updated apps. Older desktop app versions don't support it, so update the app or use the web.
- Fewer visuals: if you'd rather have mostly text, look for the "Layout and visuals" setting in Settings on the web.
- Plain text still happens: ChatGPT picks the format, so some answers will stay as normal text, and that's expected.
- Check your numbers: ChatGPT can make mistakes, so check any figures that matter, like savings or who owes what.
